Further to the Prime Minister’s announcement on Monday 4th January regarding school closures, teaching at Mulberry School for Girls has moved to remote learning. This method of teaching will be in place until February half term for all students except those who are the children of key workers and vulnerable children.
Students should log onto Mulberry Learn through Microsoft Teams by 8.45am each morning to participate in their lessons.
Please continue to check the website and text communications for updates regarding your daughter’s learning and return to school.

Fin is running three separate after school projects, as well as offering ongoing dramaturgical and story structuring advice to Drama students from Years 9-13.
Student Playwrighting Club
This course for Years 9, 10 and 11 meets once a week after school on Tuesdays. Students will learn all aspects of crafting scripts for the stage, from how to create rounded characters which an audience will care about, to structuring an exciting story, to writing convincing dialogue, and how location can affect dramatic action. The course also involves theatre trips to see some of the best modern plays London has to offer. Each student will write a ten minute play for 2-3 characters, which will be publicly read by professional actors specially hired for the occasion. These readings will take place in mid-May. This course was a huge success last year, and almost all of last year’s students have re-enrolled to develop their skills to an intermediate level, along with a new batch of beginners.
Staff Playwrighting Club
An adult version of the course for students. This class meets after school every Thursday and also requires students to create a ten minute original play, which will be publicly performed in June. Last year’s course culminated in an evening of readings at Half Moon Theatre, directed by professional director Ellie Jones. A core group from last year’s course have also re-enrolled for an intermediate course this year.
Edinburgh Festival project
Following the extraordinary sell-out success of last year’s hit play Mehndi Night at the Edinburgh Festival, Fin will be working with fellow artist-in-residence Jools Voce and a new team of Mulberry students to create another new play for this year’s Festival in August.
For 2008, the project has been expanded to include opportunities not only in performing, but also for students interested in set and costume design, marketing, stage management and catering. Mulberry’s new play will be performed from 11-16 August at Venue 45 in Edinburgh, and also hopefully at a venue in London during the first week of September. Fin is working closely with this year’s Year 11 GCSE Drama students, offering advice on writing their final performance pieces. He is also working with Year 9 Drama classes on the Year 9 project, the A-level Drama group, and BTEC Performing Arts. He is in school all day on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and can offer one-off classes on any aspect of script writing or story structure to any teachers who would like to book him. He is also offering script advice surgeries for students in Ms. Tuffee’s office on Tuesday and Wednesday lunchtimes. Please see Ms. Tuffee to book in.

Jane trained as a theatre designer and after graduating from Wimbledon School of Art has designed over 80 shows on the London Fringe, in regional theatres and the West End most notably an award winning tour of “The Night They Raided Minskys”, the UK premiere of Bernstien’s “Mass”, at the Albert Hall and all the original plays by Barrie Keefe who wrote, “The Long Good Friday”.
From there Jane moved into stills styling with rock photographer Jill Furmanovsky doing photo-shoots for EMI with people like Chrissie Hind, Madness, The Chippendales and most recently Razorlight. This also led to her being a non-executive director of a group of galleries supplying high quality digital prints from over 25 of the world’s leading photographers and designing the exhibitions for rockarchive.com.
Roger Ribo is from Barcelona. He recently graduated at the London International School of Performing Arts (LISPA) obtaining a Postgraduate in Creating Theatre based on Jacques Lecoq physical theatre method. In Barcelona, he studied drama at Nancy Tunon Studio and he also?obtained an Honours Degree in Veterinary Science. He worked as a drama teacher for kids and young people in TeatreJocSchool and in some youth associations (Artixoc, Gava Jove,...). When he finished his studies he created a children's theatre company called La Roda and he toured all over Spain with three shows. Currently, he's an actor and deviser at the theatre company You Need Me with which he has done two theatre plays: How it Ended (performed in Camden People's Theatre and going to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2008) and Certain Dark Things (selected as the devised play in High Tide Festival 2008). Other works include Big Love at the Gate Theatre (directed by Melissa Kievmann, London 2006), Lost (actor and playwright, directed by Nat Exposito, Barcelona 2005), the international project Sense Fronteres at the Forum de les Cultures in Barcelona 2004 (workshop leader and co-director) and two movies: Tu vida en 65 minutos (directed by Maria Ripoll) and Consuelo (directed by Alex Casanovas).

Internationally acclaimed and award winning Designer, kollodi is often called upon for dreamscapes or nightmares, or to create seemingly impossible theatre. In 2003, kollodi received a Portland Dramatists’ Circle Award for Outstanding Set Design for defunkt theatre's production of The Bad Infinity and the 2005 Outstanding Production Design for Liminal Performance Group's The Resurrectory. Her design and production work has been seen in theatres around the world, from London and other cities throughout the UK to Australia, Canada, and many cities in America. She has also worked with companies from around the globe, including 7 Doigts de la Main, Canada; Yubiwa Hotel, Japan; and Dream, India. Of all her experiences, none have been as precious, as working with the Mulberry Theatre Company, London creating shows for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
I began my work at Mulberry School for girls in November 2007 and almost immediately realised a level of passion and enthusiasm for all the arts, in particular digital filmmaking.
My job is dual faceted. The first part entails Editing all videos made as part of Mulberry Films, the school's in-house film production company. This has included a range of pieces from a documentary about the Blitz in London's East End, to London Learners, a film exploring the importance of identity in Education.
The second part of my job is to assist all Media intricate courses, including Media A Level, GCSE and EPA groups, with all of their video editing and technical needs. The modules included have varied from Music Video Production through to Thriller Trailers where I have assisted the students in developing their basic and advanced cutting skills, covering a range of styles and techniques. I have also had the opportunity to tutor the AS Media group in Final Cut, an industry standard edit program, which has allowed the students to experiment with colour correction, effects, compressing and authoring for DVD, and advanced sound editing and transitions.
My future aim is, with the help of students, fellow artists in residence and staff, to produce a short narrative film incorporating script writing, narrative filmmaking techniques, costume and set design, and screen acting. My hope is that through this inclusive process the students would produce a film they could enter in local and national youth and student film festivals.

Jools- Permanent Professional in Residence
It's difficult to believe it's one year on already but preparations are already underway for the Edinburgh Festival Performance Project 2008. Fin Kennedy and Julia Voce have been meeting students (main Hall Wednesdays, 3.30) to devise a unique play to be performed at the Festival. Last years performance of 'Mehndi Night' attracted a warm and curious Edinburgh crowd, word spread and the show's final performance sold out! It was 'blessed with theatrical verve'?said the Scottish Herald and 'performed with such glee' said The Guardian. We all hope we can match last years success!
It is a unique, pioneering project and one which we, as Artists (Julia Voce and Fin Kennedy) are privileged to be involved in.
A group of (mainly year 9) girls have been devising and rehearsing a performance called 'Let there be Clothes' which will form the main focus for Mulberry Schools International Women's Day Celebrations on March 13th. The girls (who have attended eight sessions) have been using theatre to explore themes of the clothes we wear and where they come from. They were each given a budget to shop in storesa known to provide 'cheap' fashion items. They were then encouraged to look 'behind the label' to investigate what conditions are like for the women who make the clothes. We are all really excited to share our findings on International Women's Day!
Camille is a professional actor and director who has recently made London her home. Originally from Portland, Oregon (USA), Camille’s theatre experience covers a wide range of professional and educational productions. She began work as an artist in residence at Mulberry in the Winter of 2006, and has taken part in a variety of projects since then: from after school drama clubs to to International Women’s Day to the Edinburgh Project. As Associate Director of MTC, additional projects include working with teachers to use theatre as a way of providing in-classroom support and workshops to enhance lessons, organizing whole-school arts projects and celebrations, the Year 9 Project, GCSE Exam Support, and any number of projects where Theatre can be used to enrich the lively learning environment here at Mulberry School for Girls. There is much to do here at Mulberry, and Camille is thrilled to have the opportunity to be involved in such a vibrant arts community. Camille holds a Master of Fine Arts from Naropa University, in conjunction with The London International School of Performing Arts.
